THE ASK:

Situated on an inner-city lot overlooking Valour Park, the goal of Park Side Tudor was clear: thoughtfully craft a modern Tudor-inspired home, optimizing an intimate footprint while infusing classic charm with a fresh, sophisticated perspective. We set out to create a residence where traditional Tudor details would seamlessly blend with updated design elements, resulting in a home that balances timeless aesthetics with contemporary comfort—both inside and out.

With Empire’s full-service architecture, interior design, and construction teams working in harmony, we were able to shape every aspect of the home from the ground up—ensuring cohesion and craftsmanship at every level. This seamless, in-house approach was key to executing the vision with clarity, precision, and care. 

THE DELIVERY:

The best place to start with Park Side Tudor is its stunning first impression—the exterior. Marked by the iconic pitched roof of Tudor architecture, the façade balances tradition and modernity through contrasting materials: classic black mullioned windows set within white stucco, offering a bold yet refined update to a historical design style.

Inside, maximizing the available inner-city footprint was central to the design challenge. The home’s layout spans three fully finished levels, each intuitively connected through a flowing open plan. Elements like the 10” ceilings on the main floor and a vaulted ceiling in the primary suite create a sense of height and openness, transforming the overall scale of the home without altering its footprint.

From exterior form to interior function, every element of Park Side Tudor reflects Empire’s commitment to precision and care. Our comprehensive in-house team—spanning architectural design, interior design, and construction—collaborated throughout the process to ensure every decision, from spatial planning to final millwork, supported the overall vision. The result is a home that faithfully interprets and elevates the Tudor style, delivering something that feels both rooted in tradition and refreshingly new.

FEATURES + HIGHLIGHTS:

Inside, Park Side Tudor celebrates thoughtful craftsmanship and inspired design at every turn. Tudor-inspired touches are showcased beautifully—from plaster detailing above the mantel, seamlessly blending with the fireplace surround, to graceful arched features framing kitchen spaces, stylish niches, and statement windows overlooking Valour Park. Notably, the same elegant plaster finish carries over to the custom range hood, tying these focal points together.

Unique interior elements, such as the integrated mudroom pet gate, custom basement bar, and intricate railing uniting all three levels, add layers of personalized charm and function. To echo the historically separated rooms typical of Tudor homes, subtle spatial transitions were used to gently define rooms without compromising flow or openness. The primary suite sits beneath a dramatic vaulted ceiling adorned with detailed custom millwork, creating a luxurious retreat enhanced by arched windows that perfectly frame the park beyond.
